The RCCO Waterloo-Wellington Centre is committed to encouraging organ students in our region. In addition to supporting them as teachers, audience members at their recitals, and including them in events such as our member’s recital, we offer scholarships for the various levels of study:<\/p>\n
The Waterloo-Wellington Centre of the Royal Canadian College of Organists administers the Barrie Cabena Music Scholarship. The purpose of this scholarship is, firstly, to honour the contribution made to excellence in church music in Canada by Barrie Cabena, composer, teacher, performer, and secondly, to assist a deserving student in the formal study of organ, church music, and\/or composition at the post-secondary school level. It is awarded on even numbered years and has a May 1st application deadline. The Barrie Cabena Music Scholarship Fund was initiated by the Waterloo Wellington Centre in 2004 on the occasion of Dr. Cabena\u2019s 71st birthday. Contributions continue to be received and may be made to the \u201cRCCO Cabena Scholarship\u201d. It is open\u00a0to intermediate level pianist and organists ages 12 to 20 who live in\u00a0<\/span>Guelph-Wellington\u00a0<\/span>and surrounding areas. Consists of $1000 for performances by RCCO teachers.
