The RCCO Waterloo-Wellington Centre is committed to encouraging organ students in our region. In addition to supporting them as teachers, audience members at their recitals, and including them in events such as our member’s recital, we offer scholarships for the various levels of study:

Barrie Cabena Music Scholarship

The Waterloo-Wellington Centre of the Royal Canadian College of Organists administers the Barrie Cabena Music Scholarship. The purpose of this scholarship is, firstly, to honour the contribution made to excellence in church music in Canada by Barrie Cabena, composer, teacher, performer, and secondly, to assist a deserving student in the formal study of organ, church music, and/or compositionat the post-secondary school level. It is awarded on even numbered years and has a May 1st application deadline. The Barrie Cabena Music Scholarship Fund was initiated by the Waterloo Wellington Centre in 2004 on the occasion of Dr. Cabena’s 71st birthday. Contributions continue to be received and may be made to the “RCCO Cabena Scholarship”. Receipts will be issued by the RCCO National Office.

College Development Fund

For beginning organ students who show promise and ability playing the organ to pursue organ study. More info here: https://www.rcco.ca/beginner-scholarships

St. George Scholarship

The Waterloo-Wellington Centre of the Royal Canadian College of Organists administers the St. George Organ Scholarship. It is open to intermediate level pianist and organists ages 12 to 20 who live in Guelph-Wellington and surrounding areas. Consists of $1000 for performances by RCCO teachers. Priority given to applicants committed to public performance.
